This help can be in the form of advice on utility bills through to helping with heating and specialist furniture to improve the quality of life.

Bill is an Old Blue who lives on his own. After a period of illness Bill approached the BSB after being made redundant and unable to pay his heating charges. The BSB investigated the charges and found with the help of the electricity supplier that a faulty meter had been installed. The BSB managed to have the bill reduced and sorted out the balance. After a follow up visit by a BSB committee member to see how Bill was getting on, the BSB were able to assist by providing funding for improvements to Bill’s accommodation to aid in his recuperation. As time has gone on the BSB has continued to support Bill when the need arises.
